New Federal Regulations Will Affect All ATM Users
New federal regulations require financial isntitutions to obtain consent from account holders before they can enroll them in overdraft protection programs covering ATM and everyday debit card transactions. The deadline to opt in is August 15, 2010. If you opt in and happen to overdraw your account, we cover the insufficient amount for a fee of $30 per transaction. However, we pay over drafts at our discretion which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. Without this coverage, if you attempt to use your debit card to make a purchase without sufficient funds in your account, your debit card will be rejected by the retailer.
